The Public Health Grant Scheme has been set up by Hartlepool Primary Care Trust to encourage and enable voluntary and community sector groups to undertake small projects that will contribute to tackling a range of health issues that have been identified as priorities and are targeted at improving lifestyle and health inequalities. Grants of between £500 and £5,000 which will be administered by HVDA can be awarded for single projects or activities that are in line with the Hartlepool Public Health Strategy. Details of the Health Strategy can be found on the Hartlepool Partnership website (www.hartlepoolpartnership.co.uk) and following the link to the Health & Wellbeing Partnership. The Primary Care Trust have also allocated £50,000 to the Community Activities Network for physical activity within Hartlepool. Grants of £2,000 to £50,000 are available and applications are open to anyone who feels they have a project which will address any gap in existing sport and physical activity provision. All applications need to be discussed with the physical activity theme lead (Zoe Rayson - tel 284174) and the deadline for all applications is the 22nd August 2008 at 4pm for decision to be made at the next Steering Group meeting on the 18th September. The application and supporting documentation can be downloaded from www.hartlepool.gov.uk/HartlepoolCAN For further details please contact the Grants Team on (01429) 262641. |

Congratulations to the new Neighbourhood Consultative Forum |
|
The Community Network would like to congratulate and welcome the new (and old!) Neighbourhood Consultative Forum Resident Representatives. Resident Representatives take local issues forward on the town’s three Neighbourhood Consultative Foras, and community involvement in the Hartlepool Partnership ensures a range of topics get discussed at the highest level. The Community Network support Resident Representatives at the Hartlepool Partnership Pre-Agenda meetings. These meetings enable Representatives to support the Vice Chairs sitting on the Hartlepool Partnership and allows feedback from the relevant Scrutiny Forums they have also been elected to. |

All Ability Forum Re-launched |
|
The All Ability Forum is a generic Forum open to people who have any kind of disability, long term condition or who are carers. The group started five years ago to enable people to have an independent voice in Hartlepool to discuss things that had an impact on their lives. The Forum has influenced many things in the past including Housing and Transport. Sadly due to lack of funding the Forum closed in January 2008 but with support from the Community Network with administration and Hartlepool Borough Council in paying for room hire and a BSL Interpreter the group has re-launched. |
