Active Citizens of Europe Award
The Community Network would like to congratulate Tom Sant on winning the Active Citizens of Europe (ACE) Award in the Senior Volunteer category.
The ACE Awards are to recognise active citizens of Europe and those that have made an exceptional impact on their community either locally, nationally or internationally. Tom travelled to Genoa, Italy in October 2008 to receive his award, Tom said “The award was a total surprise, I hope this encourages other people to volunteer. I would like to take this opportunity to also show appreciation for all the volunteering that takes place in Hartlepool”. Tom has been a volunteering for a grand total of 53 years for groups such as the Scouts, Union, OFCA, HVDA and RESPECT. Tom has also been greatly involved with the Community Network since it began in 2002 and is a Steering Group member, Community Network Theme Partnership Representative and Grants Panel Member.
