A tribute to Muriel Boreland

Along with many people in the town the Community Network was saddened to hear of the death of Muriel Boreland.  Muriel was a highly involved member of the Community Network and will be sadly missed.  Her years of dedication to ensuring the voices of residents were heard and listened to were celebrated and acknowledged by the Network during 2008, when she received a well deserved Volunteers Award.   

Muriel was very active in her community.  Her passions, to name but a few, included:  ensuring appropriate and adequate provision and services were available to all young people and ensuring the neighbourhood was clean tidy and a safe place to live in (especially during the regeneration of the Dyke House area).  Muriel was a special lady, full of enthusiasm and spirit.  The loss to the Community Sector is immense but her presence will never be forgotten.
