Work is well underway with involving young people in the NAP processes. To date, we have Youth Forums working in the following NAP areas: West View/King Oswy; Owton Manor; Rossmere; The Headland and Burbank.Young people are meeting on a regular basis with the support from Youth Workers, Neighbourhood Development Officers and the Community Network and they are working on addressing actions identified as priorities within their own NAP’s.Each NAP Forum has allocated a small budget to the Youth Forums and it is the young people who decide on how this money is allocated. To date, money has been allocated to things such as: swimming classes; ice skating; dog fouling schemes; pool tournaments; football tournaments; personal safety equipment and hair and beauty classes. The young people involved in these groups are keen to help improve their area and are working on how to develop their groups and involve more young people. The Community Network would like to thank all partners and young people who have worked hard to enable this work to be carried out.For further information on how young people can be involved in NAP’s, please contact Tracey Herrington, Community Network Officer on 262641.
