Hartlepool People’s Centre

Hartlepool People’s Centre which has supported the community for 25 years, it is now set for a make-over after receiving £992,206 from the Government Community Assets programme.  Some of the funding will be used for building refurbishments which will allow for the development of more services.

The ground floor will be converted into an out-of school club, a new roof installed along with environmental improvements such as a water recycling system and a more efficient heating system and also a lift, at the request of service users.  The People’s Centre was one of a few groups across the country who were successful with the bid which was due in part to the strong partnership between Hartlepool People’s Centre and Hartlepool Borough Council.  The application incorporated a vision that the centre would become community owned, and after securing funding from other sources, plans will be put in place to buy the building from Hartlepool Borough Council.
